Bees do swim!

MSU News ran a report on our recent paper last Friday:

our paper is here: https://www.nature.com/articles/s42003-026-09669-w

If you can read Chinese, here are two Chinese news from the wechat platforms.

Our paper showed that 1. honey bees indeed “swim” because their movement on water is purposeful (e.g. directional) and shows a preference toward dark; 2. Pesticide disrupted this process, suggesting it was a cognitive one and 3. Solitary bees also show the dark preference (and stronger, actually), suggesting bees had this trait before becoming social.     Cheers,  Zach
